About me

Hi, it's Ahmad! I'm a passionate and creative hacker from Karachi, Pakistan, working in software development full time and game dev on the side. I enjoy taking apart old hardware to understand how it works, fixing computers and other electronics in my spare time, and playing games with friends over the weekends.

I also enjoy spending time cooking up things which can help people in need, both on my own and with some non profits. In the past I've worked with flood relief organisations and other orgs in Pakistan to help displaced people. I've also helped a non profit which aimed to progress civics education in the New Zealand.

Experience

  1. Spring Hosting

    2016 — Present

Under the umbrella of Spring Hosting, I have worked with a number of talented people over the last seven years to create interesting websites. I've listed the details of some of these websites in the projects below.

  2. Civics Education Trust of New Zealand

    2017 - 2020

I provided IT services and helped manage the website for this Trust organization for three years. This included helping design the website and hosting it through my Spring Hosting platform.

  3. Flowmancer

    2018 - Present

An ecommerce website for an artisan props maker, based out of Melbourne, AU. I helped set up the storefront, designed the website. When the website got hacked, I helped recover client and orders data, and moved the website under my Spring Hosting umbrella to tighten its security and prevent any future data loss. Also, I helped cut down on outgoing and incoming email spam, and took measures to put the website back on whitelist for email providers by implementing email security through DKIM and SPF records.

  4. Mepzi Logistics

    2015 - 2016

I helped recover the website from an unresponsive hosting company and move it to another hosting provider. The previous hosting company did not want to relinquish control of the website, and the client had no access to the hosting server. My role in it was to use the frontend of the website to export its data, redesign it and deploy it on another host. I also set up their email services with another third-party service provider.

  5. Massive Lights

    2014 - 2017

I designed and implemented an inventory management solution for this client which helped them expand their business to four more locations. This was a Java application which ran an SQLite instance for keeping and updating inventory records and orders. The application was designed to work offline with data import and export options to facilitate multiple locations. I also trained the store staff in how to use the application.
